FOR FREE “COMPUTER 101” CLASSES

JUNE 6-10 FROM 9:00 TO 11:00 A.M.

(Springfield, VT) – May 25, 2011 - Stay in touch with children and grandchildren across the country. Share photos and videos in seconds.  Research your family tree.  Enjoy the convenience of “running errands” from the comfort of your home.

All of these benefits and more await you in a weeklong series of free computer classes offered at the Hartland Public Library, 153 US Route 5 in Hartland, in partnership with Vermont Telephone Company (VTel). These beginner classes will be held Monday through Friday, June 6-10 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  No previous computer experience is necessary to attend.

During the sessions, participants will learn how to set up an email account and utilize the infinite resources available on the Internet.  Soon you can be connecting with family and old friends; witnessing news as it happens; making travel arrangements; shopping online to get the best deals, or send gifts with ease; finding and listening to music; and much, much more.

“We’re excited to help patrons discover how much these resources can enhance their quality of life,” says Mary Danko of the Hartland Public Library. “And I think participants will be amazed to discover how fast and easy it is to explore the Internet.”

"We are delighted to partner with the Hartland Town Library on this digital literacy initiative," says Tess Gauthier, Community Broadband Team Director for VTel. "This is VTel’s second community program, and we will be offering many more throughout Vermont as we continue to roll out our broadband expansion across the state.”

To sign up for the classes, call library director Mary Danko at 802.436.2473.  Space is limited, so sign up soon!
