Mount Holly Elementary School

First Grade Routine and General Notes

* Folders with your child's work, school notices, and other important information
will be sent home on Friday's.

Please keep the contents and return the folder on Monday.

* Homework is minimal in the first grade.
All first graders should read 10 minutes every night.

* An activity sheet will be sent home every month. This is a fun way to help get your child
accustomed to doing homework, but it is not required.

* Periodically throughout the year we will need snack and wet wipes to share with the class.
I will send a note in your child's folder when supplies are low or abundant.

* Sneakers are the best shoes for school and are required for gym class.

* Please have your child dress for the weather. When recess is scheduled, children are expected to go outside.
The classroom is often chilly so it might be wise to leave a sweater at school.
An extra change of clothes, especially socks is also a good idea.

* If your child is going to be late, please call to let us know.
This is especially important if your child is ordering lunch.

* Please send a note if your child is going somewhere other than their normal after-school destination.

* Please let me know if you will be having a birthday party for your child
in which you will be hand delivering invitations at school. I have a few suggestions
to prevent lost invitations or prevent hurt feelings.

* Show and Tell will be on Friday. We will do this with two ever-changing groups.
It will coincide with the science/social studies units being taught.

* I find toys, computer/video games and collector cards very distracting in the classroom.
Please do not let your child bring these items to school.

If you have any questions or concerns during the school year please feel free to contact me here at the school 259-2392.
