Contract Terms

Last Revision Date: July 21, 2021 – Page Last Updated: September 18, 2024

  • CONTRACT LENGTH: 24-consecutive months
  • EARLY TERMINATION PENALTY: Applies, $25 per remaining month, to the maximum of the contract length. Fees billed in one lump sum. Fees waived if customer cancels with VTel within first 30 days.
  • EQUIPMENT SNAPSHOT:
    · If Applicable: Routers and Access Points: for the lifetime of the account, excluding end user damages and/or acts of God.
    · Customer responsible for routine replacement batteries for back-up power system.
    · Customer assumes responsibility for all shipping costs for qualified returns.
    · Customer responsible for adequate surge protection.
    · Exchanged equipment must be received by VTel within 30 days (for qualified returns).
  • Use of VTel’s service WILL CONSTITUTE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS OF SERVICE CONTAINED ON OUR WEBSITE at www.vermontel.com/vtel-internet-terms-of-service, AND THOSE CONTAINED IN OUR HIGH SPEED INTERNET AGREEMENT. We advise you to check these pages frequently for changes, as information may change periodically without notice as technology continues to improve and features are enhanced.

  • You are responsible for all VTel-owned equipment within your home, including, but not limited to:

    • Wireless router
    • Set-top box(es)
    • DVR box(es)
    • Wireless access point (if applicable)
    • Remote controls, etc. You are agreeing to maintain these items in good working order, including providing adequate surge protection. You further understand and agree that if these devices are damaged, you will be responsible for their replacement costs, even if the damage is indirect and/or an act of God/universe. Devices damaged by electricity while connected through a surge protector were not adequately protected and you must seek remuneration from the surge protector manufacturer as we will still hold you responsible for the replacement costs.
  • During commercial power loss, the battery back-up system only powers the phone line, in order to reserve battery life for emergency use. The battery can provide about 8 hours of service under normal continued use, which is the time the battery remains connected to your ONT, not the time you spend using your phone, Internet, or television. Please note that aged batteries may need replacement. Environmental factors, such as temperature, can shorten your battery’s useful life. Batteries will not last forever and should be replaced periodically according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. The battery is owned by the customer. As such, it is the customer’s responsibility alone to maintain the battery and purchase replacements as needed. The battery that we install with your fiber connection is a VRLA Rechargeable BP7.2, 12-Volt unit.

  • Should your service be disconnected, whether by your choice or by us for non-payment or a violation in terms of service, you will be required to return all VTel-owned equipment in good cosmetic and working order with all necessary power cords and/or other accessories, such as antennae, to our office at 354 River Street, Springfield VT at YOUR expense. Failure to do so will result in your being charged the replacement value for any such equipment.

  • If you are dissatisfied with our service during the first 30 days, we would welcome the opportunity to make things better, but if you choose to disconnect services during this first 30-day window, there will be no early termination fees. You will just pay for the minimum first month of service and will be expected to return all VTel-owned equipment as described previously.

  • Revision: In order to help reduce the number of illegal robocalls that may originate on our network, effective July 1, 2021, VTel & VTel Wireless have implemented robocall mitigation efforts to monitor our network and verify that calls originating over our network are legitimate numbers belonging to a valid VTel or VTel Wireless customer. In line with FCC rules, users of VTel or VTel Wireless’ voice services are prohibited from originating illegal or spoofed robocalls with the intent to defraud, cause harm or wrongly obtain anything of value from the recipient of the call. Violation of these terms can result in suspension or termination of the user’s voice telephone service(s).
